There was a lot of action for the sake of action...

The High-Wizard’s Hunt - Jack D. Albrecht Jr., Ashley Delay

Book #2 in Osric's tale, The High-Wizard's Hunt leaves off where book #1 finished.

It had been a little while since I read book 1, so it did take me a few pages to get back into the swing of things, but the story progressed pretty quickly from the opening scene.

There was a lot of intrigue and veiled threat in this book, that I believe could have been left out, the uncertainty of who was causing things to happen and Osric having to figure it all out got a little old by the end of the story.

I felt that Osric became too powerful, too hard to kill or stop or whatever, that it was a lot of action for the sake of action.

The story did have some good points, Pebble was delightful again, and with less of his 'speech' so it wasn't too much to read. He was able to interject a feeling of youthful playfulness into the most grave situations.

I quite enjoyed some of the different types of magic, wielded by both sides, the lion battle scene was a bit sad, but quite interesting.

All in all, I liked the book, but I don't think it needed to be that drawn out, it could have been culled quite heavily and added to the end of book 1 and/or the start of book 3.

**Note: I received an electronic copy of this book in return for an honest review**
